This dredger is replenishing the sand on the beach. Still a long way to go.

July Update

Store Sold Out

I was close to sold out of all my author copies after Adelaide and Melbourne Comic-Cons, and now I’ve sold my last two foiled copies of ‘Serpent Princess’. I have absolutely none left of the special edition!

I’ve ordered some more and hopefully they should arrive soon. When they do, I’ll revise the stock level on the online store.

I’ve also completely run out of copies of ‘White Tiger’ and ordering them is a little more complicated. As they’re published by Harper-Collins, I have to order author copies from the publisher. The book is in ‘backorder’ and it takes up to six weeks for copies to arrive since they have to order them for print-on-demand. Again, I’ll update the stock level when I receive the copies, and I’ll have plenty for Brisbane and Sydney Oz Comic-Con in September.

Suddenly Tamborine!

In an ironic twist – since my March ‘World Building’ workshop to be held at Helensvale was cancelled due to Cyclone Alfred – the QWC asked me to present a ‘World Building’ Workshop at Tamborine Mountain Library in June, on two day’s notice.

I received the call on Thursday June 12 to present the workshop on Saturday June 14th. The presenter they’d booked wasn’t able to make it, and I picked up the workshop and presented it instead. It was a terrific, enthusiastic group and a wonderful experience. I’m so glad I could help the QWC out with this last-minute cancellation!

Possible Supanova with TAFE/ACS

TAFE Queensland/University of Canberra are currently in discussions with Australian Computer Society about joint hosting the ‘Dark Heavens’ media that the TAFE /UofC students produce, at Supanova Brisbane in November. Both organisations have representation at the show, and they’re enthusiastic about working together to promote careers in technology.

There’s talk of the different student works being displayed, for a ‘people’s choice award’ and perhaps a panel discussion (including me) about the process of media translation as an author.

If this does happen, I probably won’t be there in my capacity as ‘author signing books’ but more as ‘author whose work has been translated into media’.

I’ll keep you updated as talks progress. There’s a great deal of negotiating involved.
