Easterly winds have brought a mass of bluebottles (Portuguese men’o’war) onto the beach. To the far right of the shot is an upside-down Glaucus – a sea swallow – that is a predator that eats bluebottles – and stings as well! I have to be very careful when doing my afternoon walk!
March Update
The writing has taken a backseat to other projects for the past few weeks. I’ve delivered ‘Serpent Princess’ to Harper-Collins (and yet to hear back from them) but in the meantime, I’ve been given a fantastic opportunity writing the script (!) for an interactive (!!) virtual-reality (!!!) gaming (!!!!) experience (!!!!!). The initial experience is called ‘The Keeper’ and the company is Haven XR, and you can see the preliminary, very early stages website here: www.havenxr.com
This project has taken up a great deal of my time, but I’m still plugging away at the second ‘Minds’ novel, ‘Bodies of Stone and Water’ and having a great deal of fun giving Ruth, Cassie, Zheng, MIP and Botswana a new fun adventure.
The first ‘Council of AIs’ novel hasn’t made much of a splash, but the reviews are (mostly) good. If you enjoyed it, please think about putting a quick review on either Goodreads or Amazon – one disappointed fan gave it one star and pulled the entire ranking down for it, which has probably hurt sales. Here’s hoping that my publishing profile can pick up again when ‘Serpent Princess’ is released.
My Facebook page was deleted by Meta, for reasons that I had absolutely no control over. My new Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/kylie.chan.writer/ and I’m mostly posting on Instagram instead of Twitter, because Twitter is broken on my browser. My website is still at the same location on www.kyliechan.com.
That’s all I have for now – ‘The Keeper’ is keeping me very busy and the ‘small business’ side of being a writer has given way for this fabulous project. I will keep you updated as to the outcome, and I haven’t had so much fun in ages!
